Ms. Alifa -E- Junnurine, please share your professional and academic peregrination for our readers!
Dear readers, It is said the finest sword is made through the most hardship.
I started my career when I stepped into university for my BBA. My first job was as a sales associate in Arong CTG, but by book, I started with Grameenphone Ltd. a Customer care manager before my BBA Final exam. I completed my bachelor’s from University of Chittagong on Marketing in 2015. After working 06 months as Customer care manager in Grameenphone ltd. I received an offer from Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay view as Corporate Executive Sales & Marketing. Everyone in my circle thought it was a bad decision to work for the Hospitality industry as the mainstream at that time was to work for multinationals or FFCG. But to break the glass ceiling, I joined Radisson hotel group and worked for 04 years. I started as Executive Sales and Marketing and after 2.5 years I got promoted twice and became the Head of Loyalty In Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View. To give my career all sorts of experience I decided to broaden my horizon, so I got transferred to Dhaka and Joined Ascott Hotels Dhaka as Catering Manager, Sales. Not working long, I got an opportunity to Join Radisson Blu Dhaka water garden, yet again everyone thought it was a bad decision. But guess what, I joined Radisson Blu Dhaka and gathered good friends and amazing working experience. These experiences molded me into what I am today and what I might achieve in the future. After working 02 Years for Dhaka Radisson, I transferred to Chittagong with Barger Paints Bangladesh as their First Territory Manager, Trade. Currently, I am working for Banglalink Digital as a Corporate Account Manager and manage the large corporate for Banglalink Chattogram.
What inspired you to pursue a career in corporate account management within the telecommunications industry?
I was the kind of kid who was shy and introverted. So, developing a career in sales was the biggest challenge that I took for myself. And trust me; it is the coolest job ever. I wake up every day and do what I like to do, it is a blessing. But the true inspiration came from my Parents. They are my biggest cheerleaders. They have always supported me in my every decision, whether it is right or wrong.
How do you approach personal growth and self-improvement in both your professional and personal life?
The first rule of growth is to know how to balance work life and personal life. And the most important is when to balance. Sometimes you must prioritize certain things, sometimes it can be Career and sometimes it can be personal belongings. Both elements are essential for growth. To maintain the balance one must set the boundaries very clearly to her/himself and also to both the elements. Clear communication and clear goal setting can help in this regard.
How do you navigate challenges such as regulatory changes and market fluctuations in your role at Banglalink?
In Telecommunication adaptation capability is very important and in sales change is inevitable. Continuous learning and a positive attitude helped me to steer my way through challenges and market variabilities.
What do you consider the most important qualities of a successful Corporate Account Manager in the telecommunications industry?
In my perspective, a clear understanding of both internal and external stakeholders is the most required quality of a successful Corporate Account Manager.
Another quality is to accept that work is defined in two categories, Hard work, and smart work; the combination can give an amazing result.
What values or principles guide your decision-making process, both professionally and personally?
In one of my interviews at the early stage of my career, I was asked what I prioritize the most in life, Work or family. We all know the answer to this question!
I chose work.
And till now Alhamdulillah by the grace of Allah I made it through.
