The InCAP: Mr. Syed Minhaz Hossain, please share your professional and academic peregrination for our readers!
Syed Minhaz Hossain: I embarked on my academic path with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing from the University of Chittagong, followed by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing from the same institution. My professional career began as a Territory Officer at bKash Limited, where I was recognized as the Best Territory Officer in 2011. I then progressed to roles such as Territory Manager at bKash, Key Account Manager at Airtel Bangladesh Limited, and Corporate Account Manager at Banglalink Digital Communications Limited. Then I have been promoted to Corporate Group Manager at Banglalink, where I got to lead a dynamic team to drive significant growth in the Enterprise Business sector. Currently I am serving as Senior Manager of Enterprise Business in Banglalink.
Throughout my career, I have continuously sought to enhance my skills and knowledge through various training programs. Notably, I have participated in the Great Manager’s Program, which focused on leadership competencies, people management, and financial acumen. I have also completed the Digi-Elevate training program, which equipped me with advanced expertise in data analytics, artificial intelligence, digital marketing, and digital transformation. My journey has been shaped by a dedication to continuous learning, strategic planning, and a passion for excellence.
What innovative strategies have you implemented at Banglalink to drive growth and enhance customer satisfaction in the enterprise sector?
At Banglalink, one of the most impactful strategies I implemented was during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21. When many companies were struggling to stay operational, we led our team to drive significant growth in the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector. We introduced an innovative solution for providing government wages and salaries to workers via MFS & using technology that minimized human contact, ensuring safety and efficiency. This solution not only maintained operations during a challenging time but also strengthened our relationships with key clients in the RMG segment.
Additionally, we launched several unique projects aimed at increasing revenue and enhancing our market presence. One notable initiative was a series of competitive account penetration campaigns, which helped us increase Banglalink Enterprise Business’s (B2B) market share in the Chittagong region. These campaigns were designed to highlight our unique offerings and demonstrate our commitment to customer satisfaction, thereby improving our brand perception. Through these efforts, we were able to drive substantial growth and solidify our position as a leading provider in the B2B market.
How do you leverage data analytics and market trends to shape the future direction of Banglalink’s enterprise business?
Data analytics and market trends are crucial in shaping the future direction of Banglalink’s enterprise business. By analyzing customer data and market trends, we can identify emerging needs and adjust our strategies accordingly. This involves segmenting our customer base to deliver personalized solutions, predicting market shifts, and staying ahead of the competition. Our data-driven approach has enabled us to optimize pricing strategies, improve customer retention, and enhance overall service quality.
Mr. Minhaz, Can you share a transformational project you spearheaded that significantly elevated Banglalink’s standing in the corporate telecommunications market?
One of the most transformational projects I spearheaded at Banglalink involved the creation and execution of unique revenue-increasing projects and competitive account penetration campaigns. These initiatives were designed to boost Banglalink Enterprise Business’s (B2B) market share and enhance our brand perception, particularly in the Chittagong region.
We identified key areas where our services could meet untapped market needs and developed tailored solutions to address them. For instance, we introduced innovative service packages for various sectors, including customized communication solutions for large corporate clients and Medium Segment clients as well. These packages were strategically priced and offered value-added services that set us apart from competitors.
The competitive account penetration campaigns were particularly effective in highlighting our unique offerings and demonstrating our commitment to customer satisfaction. By targeting specific accounts and showcasing our superior service capabilities, we successfully converted numerous clients from our competitors to Banglalink. This not only increased our revenue but also significantly improved our market position and brand perception.
Through these efforts, we were able to drive substantial growth and solidify Banglalink’s reputation as a leading provider in the corporate telecommunications market in my area. The success of these initiatives is reflected in the increased client acquisition, enhanced customer satisfaction, and a stronger market presence.
What are the biggest challenges you face in managing a diverse corporate group, and how do you turn these challenges into opportunities for growth?
Managing a diverse corporate group comes with challenges such as varying client expectations, market dynamics, and team coordination. To turn these challenges into opportunities, I focus on fostering a collaborative culture, continuous training, and development for me and my team. We leverage diverse perspectives to innovate and address complex problems. Additionally, maintaining open communication channels and regularly reviewing our strategies helps us stay agile and responsive to changes in the market.
What was your first job in life? How much was your first salary? What did you do with the first paycheck?
My first job was as a Territory Officer at bKash Limited, where my first salary was 25,000 BDT. I will never forget the joy and pride I felt when I received that paycheck. The first thing I did was buy gifts for my father and mother to express my gratitude for their unwavering support and sacrifices. Additionally, I used part of my salary to take my family out for a special dinner in their favorite place. Seeing their happiness and knowing I could contribute to their well-being made that moment incredibly meaningful and memorable.
