Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, received Ms. Sheikh Hasina at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, after which she was accorded the Guard of Honour. The article defines Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s Visit to India.

Earlier in the day, Sheikh Hasina visited Rajghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by placing a wreath on his Samadhi at RajGhat of New Delhi. She is visiting India after a gap of 2 years. On September 2, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set aside the protocol and reached Indira Gandhi International Airport to personally welcome Sheikh Hasina.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed that friendship between India and Bangladesh can resolve all problems. She stated, “India is our friend. Whenever I come here, it is a pleasure for me, especially because we always recall the contribution India has made during our liberation war. We have a friendly relationship, we are cooperating with each other.”

Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold wide-ranging talks with PM Modi, during which India is set to declare a line of credit of $500 million to Bangladesh for military supplies. India and Bangladesh are likely to sign a bunch of pacts during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to New Delhi, but it is unlikely that the much-awaited Teesta pact will be among them. Instead, both countries can potentially expand trade, investment, transport, and energy cooperation.

However, Sheikh Hasina will join a luncheon to be hosted in her honour by the Indian premier. She is expected to have separate courtesy calls on Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on September 6, 2022. The premier also signed the visitors’ book kept in the memorial. In addition, the Memorial Secretary presented a gift to the Bangladesh premier at that time.
