Chasing a revised target of 119 runs from 17 overs, Bangladesh successfully reached their goal with five balls to spare. Shamim Hossain’s boundary in the final over sealed the victory for the home side, with Captain Shakib al Hasan playing a crucial role, remaining not out on 18 off 11 balls. Despite a slight stumble in the middle overs, Bangladesh’s openers provided a solid foundation, and contributions from Towhid Hriody and Afif Hossain ensured a safe passage to victory.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s bowlers, led by Taskin Ahmed and Nasum Ahmed, restricted Afghanistan to 116-7. Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib-al-Hasan also made important contributions with the ball.
Azmatullah Omarzai top-scored for Afghanistan with 25 runs.
