Coca-Cola Bangladesh proudly announces the appointment of Ju-un Nahar Choudhury as its new Managing Director, marking a historic milestone as she becomes the first Bangladeshi and the first woman to hold this esteemed position within the Fortune 500 Company.
With an impressive career that began as a management trainee in marketing at Unilever, Ju-un has garnered a wealth of experience and accolades. Notably, she led the team at Unilever Bangladesh that achieved a Guinness World Record for the ‘Lifebuoy hand washing campaign,’ engaging 86,000 youth simultaneously across 60 locations nationwide.
Ju-un later expanded her expertise internationally, contributing to the Dettol business at Reckitt Benckiser in Indonesia and holding pivotal roles at Danone Indonesia and ‘aCommerce,’ an e-commerce enabler across seven ASEAN countries. Returning to Bangladesh in 2023, she assumed the role of Marketing Director at Apex.
Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Ju-un Nahar Choudhury stated, “I am delighted to join the Coca-Cola system and partner with our bottling partners, Coca-Cola Bangladesh Beverages (CCBB) and Abdul Monem Limited (AML), and other stakeholders to refresh our consumers in Bangladesh. I am humbled to lead Bangladesh on this Coca-Cola journey and I am committed to steer our brands and franchise operations to new heights.”
Ju-un’s appointment comes as she replaces the outgoing Managing Director, Ta Duy Tung, who served since 2021. Ajay Vijay Bathija, Vice President of Franchise Operations for Southwest Asia (SWA), welcomed Ju-un to Coca-Cola, highlighting her extensive experience in FMCG and e-commerce.
Coca-Cola Bangladesh has been a pioneer in sustainability, being the first company in the country to introduce 100% recycled PET bottles. Additionally, its digital music platform, Coke Studio Bangla (CSB), has gained immense popularity with over 2.86 million subscribers on YouTube, surpassing combined counts of some of Bangladesh’s biggest brands.
The Socio-Economic Impact study underscores the positive contribution of the Coca-Cola system in Bangladesh, supporting continuous economic growth and providing nearly 22,100 jobs, including 833 direct jobs and 21,300 indirect jobs.
Coca-Cola remains committed to building a sustainable business in Bangladesh, and Ju-un’s appointment signals an exciting phase in the company’s journey in the country.
