German Business Council (GBC), a platform of Germany’s private companies operating in Bangladesh, officially started its journey in Dhaka to encourage investment and trade with the country. It will also work to facilitate a suitable business environment for the firms from the European nation. The COVID-19 pandemic was formally registered as a trust in December 2010, and GBC’s launch was delayed. The platform is managed by five Board of Trustees, representing renowned German business organizations. So, the article is about German Business Council Started Journey in Bangladesh.

“In the past, a genuine representation of German business was missing in Bangladesh. The GBC will be a platform for purely German business interest in Bangladesh,” said German Ambassador Achim Tröster at a press conference in his residence. He hoped the GBC would play an advisory role for German enterprises and the German embassy. Currently, GBC’s 15 members operate in the energy and power, chemical, agriculture, and textile sector in Bangladesh, and some of the firms have been working here for decades, even before the independence of Bangladesh. Speaking at the event, Md Sazzadul Hassan, chairman of the GBC, said: “The GBC also aims to help German companies that want to come to Bangladesh. It will raise voices to the concerns of German businesses operating in Bangladesh too.”

He said there are plenty of opportunities to diversify exports from Bangladesh to Germany and imports from the biggest European economy. In addition, he said some leading companies had shown interest in investing in Bangladesh. Tawfiq Ali, the Managing Trustee of the GBC, said Bangladesh offers a lot of positive things. “Every company that tries to grow should understand the growth momentum of this country. Bangladesh could be a good destination for any company that wants to grow. However, the government of Bangladesh also needs to improve the business environment.”
