Ms. Humaira Azam has recently been appointed as the Managing Director of LankaBangla Finance PLC.
With 34 years of experience in the financial industry, Ms. Azam is renowned for her exceptional leadership and expertise in navigating complex and multicultural environments.
Ms. Azam is a trailblazer in the Bangladeshi financial sector, having been the first female managing director and CEO of both Trust Bank Limited and IPDC Finance PLC.
Her extensive experience encompasses corporate and commercial banking, foreign trade, treasury, retail banking, special assets, branch banking, Islamic banking, credit management, capital management, and financial institutions.
Her illustrious career began in 1990 as a Management Trainee at ANZ Grindlays Bank, where she rapidly advanced to various leadership roles.
Over the years, she has significantly contributed to the success of several multinational banks and local private institutions, including HSBC Bangladesh, Standard Chartered Bank, and IPDC Finance PLC.
Her leadership has been pivotal in business expansion and strategic implementation.
Most recently, as Managing Director & CEO of Trust Bank Limited, Ms. Azam led the bank to substantial growth in operating profit, deposit base, and foreign remittance.
Under her guidance, Trust Bank achieved notable milestones, including becoming a principal member of VISA, enhancing its capital base, and earning accolades for its Islamic banking division.
Trust Bank was recognized twice in the “Sustainability Rating” for 2022 and 2023.
Ms. Azam’s leadership qualities, analytical skills, and commitment to excellence have earned her global recognition.
She was highlighted by Oxford as a top-tier leader in an advanced leadership program and completed a similar program at INSEAD.
Her achievements include being named one of the top seven influential women in Islamic business and finance by WOMANi in 2021 and 2022.
She has also received the “Women of Inspiration Award” by JCI and the “Top Women Bankers Award” by Brac Bank Limited. Azam has mentored many prominent executives in the financial sector.
Ms. Azam holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka.
