Iranian poet and filmmaker Baktash Abtin has died who got arrested for spreading misinformation about national security. Imprisoned Poet & Filmmaker Abtin died In Corona on January 8, 2022, at 48 years old, raises a suspicious attitude of Iran Govt .
Reza Khandan Mahbadi and Kevan Bajan, two other writers, including Baktash, a board member of the Iranian Writers’ Association, were sentenced to five years in prison in September 2020. However, Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei, Iran’s supreme religious leader, was jointly appealed by 18 non-governmental organizations (NGOs), including the United States, to ensure their medical treatment. They even requested that the three detainees be kept separate for extra care and security.
Human rights groups claim that Corona diagnosed him more than a month ago, but authorities delayed his treatment. In October 2021, the three authors were jointly awarded the PEN Award by PEN America.
However, Baktash was taken to hospital from prison in mid-December 2021. He was in the hospital for about 35 days. About thousands of social posts were published on social media after declaring his death.
