Hello 23: Shahidullah Azim

Shahidullah Azim - The InCAP

I’d like to convey my warmest greetings on the glorious occasion of 51st Independence Day of Bangladesh to my fellow countrymen at home and abroad, along with the worldwide readers of The InCAP.

At the same time, I feel obliged to commemorate the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the valiant martyrs and freedom fighters who gifted us with a map of our own.

We all know the COVID pandemic and war crisis that hit buyers began canceling orders at a vast scale and since then, the garment industry has been struggling to recover from all these challenges. Bangladesh’s ready-made garments sector accounts for around 80% of its manufacturing income, with at least 4 million workers depending on it. Along with that the ongoing geo-political issue has also created a critical situation for us. However, we are trying our best to mitigate the problems and sustain the momentum we have achieved.

BGMEA works with the vision to develop the RMG industry of Bangladesh and the economy of the country. To protect and promote the interests of the industry, thus ensuring sustained growth in the foreign exchange earnings of the country. BGMEA is committed to provide all legitimate rights and privileges to garment workers. The association also strives toward the betterment of the society and environment.

That The InCAP is going to publish a special edition exclusively designed for Bangladesh as a part of its New Year campaign Hello 23, gives me immense pleasure.

May the coming year give more strength to the bond of our trust and respect that we have for each other.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

Shahidullah Azim
Vice President
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA)
