MD. SHAMIM SHAHNEWAZ IS A DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHER AND VISUAL STORYTELLER BASED IN DHAKA, BANGLADESH.
He is practicing photography since 2018. He completed a certification course on Basic photography from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. After then he completed a mentorship program called “Documentary Photography Workshop” under the supervision of a renowned photographer Mohammad Rakibul Hasan in Bangladesh. Recently he completed another certification course called “Humanitarian/NGO Photography Workshop” from Counter Foto, Bangladesh. Now he is pursuing a Professional Diploma in Photography in Counter Foto, Bangladesh.
Shamim is now mostly working as an independent photographer. He also works as a contributor photographer in Pacific Press Agency, Philippines. Along with photojournalism, he is working on some long-term ongoing documentary projects. He believes that photography impacts society and its development and his passion is to produce creative visuals that include indications about any major social issues like women’s rights, human rights, environmental rights, everyday life, etc. He is curious to hear the untold stories of those people and their lives to document those experiences for making awareness in society.
