Russian President Vladimir Putin is not going to the G20 conference to be held in Indonesia. However, influential world leaders are participating in this conference to be held in Bali, Indonesia. Indonesia’s Maritime and Investment Coordinating Minister’s spokesperson, Jodi Mahardi, said that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will represent the Russian president at the G20 summit. The Russian embassy in the country has also confirmed that Putin will not attend. So, Vladimir Putin Will Not Attend The G20 Summit.
Yulia Tomskaya, Head of Protocol at the embassy, said Sergey Lavrov will lead the Russian delegation to the conference. After that, Mr. Putin can participate virtually. This time, as the host of the G20, Indonesia is under pressure from Western countries and Ukraine. The countries demand that Putin withdraw his invitation to war in Ukraine and expel Russia from the group. But Jarkata said they do not have the power to take such a decision without the consensus of the member countries.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that Russia was welcomed at the summit. However, he also feared spreading international tension at the conference. The G20 is not a political forum. Widodo also noted that it is composed of economic and development issues. He also said that the President of Ukraine had invited Volodymyr Zelensky. But he said Putin will not come to participate. But Mr. Zelensky is expected to attend virtually. World leaders, including US President Joe Biden and China’s Xi Jinping, will attend this conference on November 15, 2022.
