Imagine commuting to work in a mode of transportation that costs very little, never gets too hot even without air conditioning, is environment-friendly, and makes you feel safer than most other cars. What if you’re caught in traffic? There are also numerous entertainment alternatives. This could soon become a reality, as Baagh Eco Taxi, the country’s first homemade electric three-wheeler, is slated to make a roaring debut in July, with sales starting the first week of May. In addition, Baagh Motors is introducing the “Made in Bangladesh” automobile. So, the editorial is about Bangladesh’s First Home-made Electric Three-wheelers Set For Production in July.
“We set up a factory in Gazipur and will go into production this July,” said Zashimul Islam Bappi, owner of Baagh Motors, adding that some types of machinery from China will reach within weeks and will be installed throughout June. He stated that the factory’s current capacity is 5,000 units per month. In March, Baagh Eco Taxi became the first electric three-wheeler to be approved to operate on Bangladesh’s highways by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA). The car is packed with technical advancements, and safety measures are priced at Tk6,25,000, according to Bappy.
Baagh Eco Taxi may be the latest addition to an otherwise problem-plagued communication sector, with a ride-sharing application exclusive to the vehicle already being considered. All Baagh Motors vehicles will be part of an ecosystem developed by the company to ensure that its services are available to all three-wheelers. The vehicle is now available in two models, one with a motor capacity of 1,500 watts and the other with 1,800 watts.
Safety Concerns
Baagh Eco Taxi became the first electric car to receive official approval to operate on the roads after undergoing rigorous testing and screening by the BRTA; most other electric vehicles are regarded as unlawful. However, getting approval was not straightforward, and it took the corporation two years.
“We produced 11 vehicles in April 2020 and have been attempting to acquire official authority to deploy them on the road since then. In March, we finally received approval, “Bappy, the proprietor, stated. The vehicle’s safety characteristics may have contributed to the acceptance. According to Mr. Bappy, the innovative eco-friendly dual-power battery and solar-run three-wheeler have gone to great lengths to assure optimum safety and security while also being a comfortable option for passengers. The panic button in the passenger cabin is one such safety element. In addition, with a single click of a button, the vehicle’s speed is reduced to five kilometers per hour.
The vehicle will, after that, become immobilized for the next twenty minutes. At the same time, a signal will be transmitted to the vehicle-specific control center, alerting the authorities. The authorities can then disable the taxi’s function. Security cameras are also installed on the three-wheeler, capturing and saving all videos on a central server. This is in addition to the vehicles’ built-in real-time GPS tracking technology. Mr. Bappi said They also created a vehicle monitoring system that displays the three-current wheeler’s location and provides maintenance information via a mobile application. In addition, he said the company chose high-grade steel, often used for larger cars, to assure the vehicle’s endurance and longevity.
The taxi will also have larger wheels than standard CNG-powered three-wheelers and human-haulers and a hydraulic stopping system with anti-lock brakes. In addition, Baagh Eco Taxi will employ lithium-ion batteries to help the environment. Existing batteries are constructed of lead and acid, which are hazardous to the environment and only last six months, according to Bappy. On the other hand, lithium-ion batteries are environmentally friendly and last for about seven years, according to him. Furthermore, a 480w solar panel can store 40% of its charge during the day, extending its range by 40 kilometers. A dashboard monitoring system, anti-theft technology, and speed tracking are among the vehicle’s additional features.
Comfortable Vehicle
The three-wheelers available on the country’s highways have two big drawbacks: they are noisy and may get unbearably hot, especially while stuck in traffic under the scorching heat. Both of these things are avoided by Baagh Eco Taxi. The vehicle is almost silent due to its electric motor. On the other hand, the interior is equipped with a ventilation system and fans to ensure that the temperature inside never reaches 32 degrees Celsius.
If the taxi’s passengers are stopped in traffic, they can use the vehicle’s unlimited internet service. Passengers will also have access to a tablet that can be used for amusement or formal purposes. In addition, a charger cabinet is available if a passenger’s phone or laptop battery is about to die. To expand the reach of the taxis, Bappy said the company was considering developing a ride-sharing app but said it would have to wait to evaluate demand and prospects. “We want to utilize uniform colors for different places or zones for these easy bikes,” he said.
Low Cost:
Baagh Eco Taxi might be a blessing at a time of rising costs. Taxis are inexpensive, with rates as low as Tk1.33 per kilometer. For example, the 1,500watt vehicle can travel 90 kilometers on a single charge and cost the driver Tk120. The 1,800 watt has a range of 80 kilometers. In addition, Baagh Motors has developed a quick charge technique for charging. As a result, it will only take 15 minutes to charge the vehicle’s 60volt battery completely.
Baagh will also be equipped with a motion-charging technology that will charge the battery while the vehicle is moving. Bappy also stated that many existing battery-powered easy-bikes were charging via illegal connections, but this was not an option with the eco-taxi.
“It can only be charged at charging points we will build. A microchip with artificial intelligence (AI) has been installed in the charging port. The port can be opened through a mobile application. The charging will start once the vehicle owner makes a command, using the app, after paying the bill digitally for each charging session.” He claimed a battery bank would be set up to charge the vehicles automatically at night when electricity consumption was low. All our transactions will be made digitally, and we have already reached agreements with 49 banks,” he said.
