Emmanuel Macron was re-elected as French President in April 2022. However, shortly after he took the administration, an incident came to light that sparked controversy in the French political arena. While observing the cost of funds, one of the leaders of Macron’s party was found to have spent around $8432 on expensive clothes. The article is about French MP Quits After Claiming £7,000 From Fund on Expenses For Clothes.

She is Coralie Dubost. A lawyer by profession, she was one of the recruits from outside politics who joined the La République En Marche (LREM) team after joining Macron’s team in 2016. Ms. Coralie was elected a Member of Parliament from Montpellier in the south of France. That same year, Macron issued stricter rules for spending funds. As a result, the audit department has been asked to look into the receipts of the expenses of the members of parliament whose salary is 6,000 Euros. Officials at France’s National Assembly Audit Agency have been investigating Ms. Coralie since 2021. They kept this information secret for so long.

Since 2016, Ms. Coralie has been buying expensive clothing items from well-known French brands. For three months in a row, Ms. Coralie made the purchase using the funds. Although Ms. Coralie denied the allegations at first, she left the party independently. She said, “I never cheated on anyone. I would never wear the kind of clothes I had to wear as an MP in my personal life. I have completely removed myself from political life. Now I can have a good time with my family.” She also claimed that she had returned all the money she had spent.
