On June 15, 2022, Grab Singapore announced that it has purchased and relaunched food reviews and restaurant reservations site HungryGoWhere and its accompanying social media channels. The site, which provides food reviews and deals and allows users to make reservations at food joints, went offline in July 2021 after operating for 15 years. HungryGoWhere’s newly launched platform will feature up-and-coming personalities and the origins of popular foods. It will also act as a one-stop platform that explores the highways and byways of Singapore’s food scene through food reviews and recommendations, profile interviews and a behind-the-scenes look at the food we eat,” Grab noted.

The HungryGoWhere site will leverage insights from the Grab super-app, such as popular food trends and frequently visited places in Singapore. Relevant stories on HungryGoWhere will also be shared on the Grab app and its marketing channels. It was founded in 2006 by Wong Hoong An, Dennis Goh, and Tan Yung Yih; HungryGoWhere started as a food review site. It subsequently went on to offer dining deals and rewards, articles on food and beverages in Singapore, and the option to make restaurant reservations.

SingTel acquired the platform’s parent company GTW for S$12 million in May 2012 to reshape the culinary experience across Asia. HungryGoWhere eventually ceased operations in July 2021 amid stiff competition and pandemic-induced challenges. The closure also came as SingTel was undergoing a strategic review of its digital businesses, such as Amobee and Trustwave.
