Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Returned Bangladesh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has returned to Bangladesh after attending the state funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and participating in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The VVIP chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. So, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Returned Bangladesh finally.

On September 15, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to London to attend the funeral of former British Queen Elizabeth II. There she attended the funeral with the heads of state and governments of different countries. At that time, her younger sister Sheikh Rehana was also present. In addition to the British royal family, members of the royal family of various European countries, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Liz Truss, the Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland, and the heads of state and government of various countries joined the funeral. During the visit, she also attended the reception of Britain’s new King, Charles III.

After various formalities in London, the Prime Minister went to New York on September 19. During her visit to New York, she participated in the reception given by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and US President Joe Biden in the evening at the United Nations Headquarters on September 20. On this day, the Prime Minister also participated in the opening session of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. She also held a bilateral meeting with the President of Slovenia Barut Pahar. In addition, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Later, on September 21, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a bilateral meeting with Ecuador’s President Guillem Lasso Mendejo and Kosovo’s President Vijosa Osmani Sadriu. Various bilateral issues were discussed in these meetings. On that day, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, participated in a program on ‘Sustainable Housing’ and a meeting titled ‘Global Crisis Response Group Champion’. She also inaugurated the Padma Bridge stills exhibition at the United Nations headquarters.

On September 22, the Prime Minister participated in a round table and antimicrobial resistance meeting with the United States-Bangladesh Joint Business Association, along with participating in a high-level event on the Rohingya issue on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. On this day, she held a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hu Sen. Besides, IOM Director General Antonio Vittorino and ICC Prosecutor Nick Clegg and Karim Khan paid a courtesy call to her.

Then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the United Nations General Session on September 23. As always, in her speech in Bengali, she called for a peaceful and sustainable world by resolving crises and disputes through mutual dialogue and avoiding hostile methods like coercive economic sanctions and counter-sanctions.

Sheikh Hasina virtually attended a reception given to expatriate Bangladeshis living in the United States on September 24. Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister went to Washington DC from New York and stayed there till October 2.
