Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is announced as Saudi Arabia’s Prime Minister on September 27, 2022. He was given this responsibility in the cabinet reshuffle ordered by King Salman bin Abdulaziz. However, Mr. Salman was considered the undeclared ruler of the world’s largest oil exporter. This appointment formalized his role as the Head of Government. So, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Named Saudi Prime Minister.

He is also known as MBS. For so long, he served as Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister. However, his younger brother Mr. Khalid bin Salman has been made the new Defense Minister. Other Senior Ministers have been retained in office by royal decree. Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Finance Minister Mohammad Al-Zadan, and Investment Minister Khalid Al-Fatih remain in their positions. 

In the past, in Saudi Arabia, the king usually kept the Prime Minister’s responsibility to himself. However, the 86-year-old King Salman continued the slow but steady power transfer by appointing his son Mohammed bin Salman as Prime Minister. In May 2022, the Saudi king was admitted to the hospital for health examination and treatment. The 37-year-old Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has already held several key Ministries in the country, including finance, defense, oil, and interior.
