Your subconscious mind is more astonishing than you can presume. No doubt there will be things about that you know and things that you don’t, so I thought I would list 10 interesting things you maybe didn’t know. Now let your mind know how powerful your subconscious mind is!
Some of you may remember Donald Rumsfeld’s tongue-twister about an explanation a few years ago when he was trying to define the limits of intelligence reporting. He stated: Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say, we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don’t know we don’t know”. That’s right; there are things that we know and things that we don’t know.
So here are 10 things you might not know that will help you understand the power of your subconscious mind!
1. The subconscious mind controls 95% of our life:
Not really surprising because our subconscious mind controls every physical movement, whether voluntary or obligatory. Science today counts that 95% of our brain activity is unconscious, which means that most of the judgments we make, the actions we take, our emotions and behaviors depend on the 95% of brain activity is beyond our consciousness!
2. The subconscious mind is dreaming:
Dreams have been studied by scientists, philosophers, and theologians with countless different theories and interpretations. Sigmund Freud famously interpreted dreams as a window into our subconscious, expressed our deepest cravings and anxieties (mostly sexual), and suppressed childhood memories or obsessions. However, even Freud admits, “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”
Today, neuroscience generally agrees that dreams are purely physiological and represent the brain’s attempt to make sense of random thoughts and images of recent daytime experiences or memories that pass through the mind during sleep.
3. Subconscious mind is based on habits:
When we go through our daily activities like waking up, commuting from work, eating, drinking, and going to sleep, it becomes second nature, and we have developed habits. This is because we are processing information quickly, and without realizing it, the subconscious is at work. Freud believed that the subconscious mind does most of the work of our daily activities without even realizing it.
4. Subconscious takes everything literally:
The subconscious is used to taking everything literally. It does not distinguish between the negative and the positive. So if you keep telling yourself that you will never be successful in one particular business, the chances are that it is.
The subconscious mind is thematic. It does not think or reason independently, and it simply obeys the commands received from your conscious mind. As Henry Ford said, “If you think you can, or if you think you can’t, you are right!”
5. Your subconscious mind is always awake:
Your subconscious mind never sleeps, rests, or takes a break as it controls all vital processes and functions in the body. For example, the subconscious mind controls heart rate, blood circulation, regulates digestion and elimination.
Our conscious mind becomes asleep during sleep, while the subconscious mind remains fully awake. Science shows that we always hear and process everything, even while snoozing.
6. Our subconscious mind is based on the present:
When we dream of the future or have a nostalgic thoughts for the past, the conscious mind is at work. The conscious mind thinks in terms of the past and future rather than the present. Our subconscious is constantly focused on the present juncture. This is why it is so important to be mindful of your inner thoughts, such as; “I succeed” rather than “I will succeed”.
7. Subconscious is like a computer processor:
Computers were initially designed around brain models and were once called electronic brains. The human body functions much like modern computers. Instead, the most complex processing unit that has been constructed is the human brain.
The subconscious mind is much more powerful than the conscious mind and can process a vast amount of information from your five senses and feed it back to your brain in the blink of an eye.
8. Our subconscious mind is multitasking:
Many of us think we can do multitask, but the truth is that it is pretty impossible to focus on two things at once consciously. This is because when we try to pay attention to two things at once, the brain gives its neuronal attention to one thing, then the second, and then goes to the first again. So we can never focus on two things at once. Equally, it is physically impossible to feel satisfied and sad or to feel furious and tranquil at the same time, but we can switch between emotional episodes exceptionally quickly. Our subconscious mind is a born multi-tasker!
9. The subconscious mind is primal:
Our subconscious mind communicates through images, emotions, and metaphors. It focuses on emotion rather than logic or reason. Our intuition is a complex system of the brain that acts as a bridge between the subconscious and the conscious mind. It is a brain process that does not require analytical reasoning.
10. You can use your subconscious power:
According to Operation Meditation, you can make a “subconscious request” by imagining yourself in the requested scenario. For example, think about satisfaction and pleasure if you want to feel happy. With the help of your subconscious, this fantasy can be turned into reality to inspire you to achieve your goals.
Your subconscious mind is fueling more of your life than you might think. While it doesn’t sound as powerful as conscious thought, the subconscious mind constantly dreams, observes, and processes. Because of this, an enormous part of your personality is accumulating beyond your awareness.
Maybe we don’t know many things regarding our subconscious mind; science is always on the warden for more unknowns. I’ll let you know as early as I know. Be happy, be blessed. Thank you!
