Lionel Messi has confirmed that this year’s (2022) World Cup in Qatar will be the final World Cup of his career. “This will be my last World Cup — for sure. The decision has been made,” he told Argentine Journalist Sebastian Vignolo in an interview. The article is about Lionel Messi Confirmed 2022 Qatar World Cup To Be His Last.

Mr. Messi will compete in his fifth World Cup in Qatar, having scored six goals in the previous four tournaments. Four of them came in 2014 when the PSG star led Argentina to the final, where they were defeated 1-0 after extra time by Germany. Given that he is already 35 and will be 39 when the next World Cup rolls around, the decision was expected. However, it remains to be seen whether he will play for the Argentina national team after the tournament in Qatar.

So far, the former Barcelona captain has made 164 appearances for La Alibiceleste, scoring 90 goals, and is regarded as the greatest player to ever represent the country, alongside Diego Maradona.
